The Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS) is a worldwide association. The COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) was set up in 1998, as COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CII), as a task of the Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS), which is a between administrative association with 21 part states in three mainlands; Asia, Africa, and Latin America, to be specific Bangladesh, China, Colombia, Egypt, Ghana, Iran, Jamaica, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Korea (DPRK), Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Senegal, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.
